If you're looking for a Newport Beach Photographer who provides a simple, quick, come-as-you-are photo experience, my Black and White Mini Sessions are just what you need. These sessions are relaxed, no-pressure, and all about capturing your family just being yourselves; laughing, hugging, playing, or simply hanging out. We’ll play your favorite music, keep things light, and let the natural moments unfold while I snap away.

These minis are held in my Newport Beach studio a few times throughout the year, most often around the holidays and on select seasonal dates. The clean, black-and-white aesthetic gives your images a timeless, artistic feel; perfect for prints, gifts, or just capturing a season of life in a simple, beautiful way. With no props or posing required, these sessions are all about connection and real emotion.

1 - Keep an eye out!

Black and White Minis happen several times throughout the year in my Portrait Studio in Newport Beach, CA. Keep your eye out on Instagram or contact me to join my mailing list so you know when dates are available. Once you're booked I will send you wardrobe suggestions and all the info on your shoot so you will know exactly what to expect.

2 - On your session day

Black and White Mini Sessions are 10 minutes long; quick and fun! When you arrive, we will put on your family's favorite music and have some laughs as we start shooting. You’ll be in and out in no time, with plenty of genuine, natural images captured.

3 - After your session

About two weeks after your session, you’ll receive an email with a link to your proof gallery. From there, you can purchase your images right off the proofing site. I’ll then add your selections to my retouch queue, and once your images are fully edited, I’ll send you a final gallery. If you’ve ordered prints, they’ll be ready for pickup 2–3 weeks after your final gallery is delivered.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long are the sessions?

Black & White Mini sessions are 10 minutes. I know you may be thinking that there is no way to capture your family in this short amount of time but honestly, its more time than I actually need! I often have families comment on how they loved how fast and fun the sessions are.

What if my child acts crazy?

If your child acts crazy during the session or won't sit still then guess what... you have a normal child! I encourage kids to act like kids in my studio. I believe this produces the best photos. We want their personality to come through.

This isn't my first rodeo. I have 3 kids of my own and I have been photographing kids for years. I have tons of tricks up my sleeve to have fun and capture the shots we need.

What I ask is that parents don't coach from the sidelines. Its just like soccer where you should let the coach do the coaching.

I do bribe with candy and prizes at the end of the session however, I will always check with you first. No peanuts of course!

Can we bring out dog?

Yes! You’re welcome to bring your pet, just with a few guidelines. Please let me know in advance if your pet will be joining. For everyone’s comfort, pets should remain on a leash and close by before and during the session. While my own dogs won’t be present, I’ve had visiting pets “mark” in the studio before, so I want to help prevent that.

Also, since all black and white mini sessions are photographed on a bench (not the ground), your pet must be comfortable sitting on a bench or being held by a family member during the shoot.

What do we wear?

Focus on mixing tones and textures. For example, one person might wear solid black, another white or gray. Adding fabrics with texture like knits, lace or denim creates visual interest and simple patterns can add extra depth. Try to avoid putting everyone in the exact same outfit (like all white shirts), since variety is what makes black and white images so striking.

You can set the tone of your images by dressing up or keeping it casual. My recommendation is to keep things casual because my black and white minis are intended to be fun and capture your family authentically.
